The church “Saint Mary of Ascension to Heaven”, of the village of Kaçë, is a medieval church of the Catholic rite. Mentioned for the first time in a relation of Archbishop of Tivari, Marin Bici in 1610 is found more and more often in church relations as an important church of the area where it served many worshipers.
In a report from 1632, it is said that the church has its caretakers as well as a vineyard, while in 1638 it is said that this parish church serves the villages of Ranëze, Hajmel and Naraç.
It got its current form from the restoration of 1880 mentioned in another report of this period. In the communist period, the church was stripped of its ecclesiastical elements such as the altar, belfry and bells, as well as various ecclesiastical decorations and was used as a cooperative warehouse.
After the 90s, several restoration works were carried out in this church, mainly in the decorations and religious elements without changing its original structure, mainly from the outside where the stone walls were preserved. This church building is currently part of the Diocese of Sapa.
